Royal College Class of 1964

This is a website for those who entered Form I (Grade 6) Royal College Colombo, SriLanka, in 1964 or who joined (1963) or were joined (1965) by students of this Class in a later year at Royal in class or in extra-curricular activity.

It is now over 30-years since we all left Royal. An annual dinner after the Colombo leg of the Bradby match have allowed those who can attend to be in contact. Many of us are however scattered all over the globe and now use E-mail regularly to communicate. In May 2001 an E-mail list was formed to renew old friendships and share life experiences.

Despite simplified instruction here only about half have got YahooID's and have linked their YahooID's to their E-mails properly to make use of the many features including Chat, and Photos at the Group Home on the web at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/royal-1964/.

There are over 150 members of Royal-1964 who we have not yet even contacted to join. If you have been in recent contact with anyone not listed above please E-mail them (with copy to me) and ask them to join via website, confirm the invitation I will send them via Yahoo. I am not joining anyone directly without an acceptance of invitation or an E_mail or copy to me or another Royal-1964 moderator from the person joining.

If you belong to the Royal Class of 1964 and not yet a member please join Royal-1964@yahoogroups. Please also E-mail me with your name and years at Royal since I would not always recognize a yahoo ID or remember a name and need to know who has joined. I have had some requests to join via Yahoo website from user names Unknown to me who didn't identify themselves. Query for more information is now sent automatically to anyone requesting membership via web, and requests ignored if I don't get a reply. However this E-mail may go to your Yahoo E-mail address, which you may not be reading.

I have had concerns from some about large attachments been posted which is a problem for some. So I have for the moment removed the option of posting attachments. This also prevents any virus to be distributed by it. If you in anyway realize that you have an unremoved Virus like the Aug'2001 case which returned copy of it to poster please E-mail me as soon as possible to Royal-1964@lakdiva.net. Don't worry about sending me the virus since these MicroSoft viruses have no effect on UNIX systems I use. I will ensure the group is protected. I don't want to switch everyone to Daily Digest Mode unless it becomes a too frequent a problem.

Please also STOP the E_mails growing in Size. Reply without including the E_mail you got. In any case PLEASE DELETE the footnotes and adverts and retain at most the small section to which you are replying.

Some concerns have been E-mailed to me about the E-mail list and posting of E-mail and postal addresses/phone numbers of others on the list. Please feel free to post your own information but please don't post information you have of others to full group. E-mail them to me and I will send out invitations. I have removed the E-mail list from being online even for members on request of a few. I feel it is important to make an environment which is comfortable for everyone to join. Please post something interesting at least once every few months. If you are traveling and may have opportunity to meet others, let them know. Basically keep the group informed so that another in group can get in contact with you if necessary.
